A Delta Air Lines jetliner bound for Salt Lake City lurched down
the runway, crashed and erupted into a fireball shortly after takeoff
from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport this morning, killing 13
of the 107 on board.
Survivors, rescue workers and aviation experts expressed
amazement that 94 people survived the crash and fire, which charred
the plane from front to back and ripped it in three places.
"From here it looks like a miracle," airport spokesman Joe Dealey
said. "The good news is that one hell of a lot more people walked
away from this crash than died in it."
