Article: Epidemics Feared in Bangladesh; Experts See Cholera, Dysentery Spreading as Flood Waters Recede

Health experts expect "catastrophic" conditions to occur once the flood waters that cover as much as three-fourths of Bangladesh begin to recede significantly, probably after 10 days or two weeks.

Cholera, respiratory disorders, dysentery and other intestinal diseases could become rampant after the waters have gone down, preventing boat traffic, but before the lands dry out enough to allow movement of vehicles.
