Article: BROWNLEE CONSIDERED FOR FIRING, POST SAYS

Western Virginia U.S. Attorney John Brownlee's name was among those on a list that the Justice Department considered as candidates for firing, according to The Washington Post.

The Justice Department suggested about a quarter of U.S. attorneys for possible dismissal between February 2005 and December 2006, the Post said.

Justice Department officials first came under scrutiny this year for the firing of eight U.S. attorneys, most of whom had high performance ratings. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales testified last week that termination efforts were limited to those original eight.
