Add to the list Viggo Mortensen and David Cronenberg. "Eastern Promises" is their second collaboration, and it bodes well for any future projects.

Like "A History of Violence," their acclaimed debut as a duo, it's a sharp and riveting crime thriller. Cronenberg spent his first directorial incarnation reworking the horror movie. Now he's taking on gritty and lurid underworld yarns and it looks like he's a man made for the job.

This one's set in London where Russian expatriate gangsters have set up stakes.
