When the medical staff at Children's Hospital was confronted two
years ago with a toddler who had ingested PCP, the child's mother
refused to accept the blame. According to hospital nurses, the woman
said the child had been warned not to touch the baby bottle in the
refrigerator. The bottle was used to store the drug.
A week later, an 18-month-old who lived in the same home was in
critical condition at D.C. General Hospital after swallowing a large
amount of PCP, according to Dr. Regina Milteer, a pediatrician there.
A baby sitter had given the child a baby bottle from a refrigerator,
thinking it contained milk. The family told D.C. General doctors
that PCP had been stored in the bottles ...
