LEITH'S 200 million pound Western Harbour development moved a step
closer today despite fears surrounding pockets of potentially
explosive gas at the site.
East of Scotland Water announced it is to press ahead with plans
to lay a new water main to the area, which it is hoped will be home
to 100,000 people.
The first stage of work will take ten weeks with construction
teams laying the pipe from the junction of Constitution Street and
Baltic Street to the new development at Tower Place via Constitution
Street and Ocean Drive. Disruption to traffic will be minimised with
work carried out between 7pm and 6am.
In total, the project will cost GBP 200,000.
