Article: Boy is burned hurling vacuum cleaner on track

A CITY schoolboy has suffered burns to his face and hands after throwing a vacuum cleaner onto overhead power wires on a railway line.

The 14-year-old threw the disused vacuum cleaner from a bridge in Joppa, causing an electric current to arc up and strike him in the face.

The vacuum cleaner was left dangling on the overhead lines below the bridge at Joppa Gardens last night , forcing one train coming into the city to brake sharply as it collided with the cleaner.

British Transport Police today issued a warning over tampering with railway lines after the alarming incident.
