Article: BoS fined GBP 1.25m for breach of FSA rules

BANK of Scotland was today fined GBP 1.25 million after falling foul of regulations under the Financial Services Authority's money laundering rules.

The City regulator imposed the fine on the Edinburgh-based bank for "failing to keep proper records of customer identification" across its retail, corporate and business banking divisions.

BoS - part of the HBoS group - accepted the findings but said there was no evidence of any money laundering or any evidence that the slack record-keeping had affected any customers.

It is the second big fine the bank has been hit with in under a year. Last February it was fined GBP 750,000 by the FSA for failing to administer its customers' savings plans ...
