IT'S three o'clock in the morning and the silence of night is
pierced by the cries of a baby.
From the next room, there comes a sleepy groan, followed by the
thud of weary footsteps as its mother struggles out of bed for the
infant's moonlight feed.
All is quiet for a while as the child feeds, is cuddled and
winded.
But afterwards, the worn-out parent is faced with a dilemma - put
the now wide-awake child back to bed and endure an hour of crying, or
cuddle up on the sofa and try to lull it back to sleep.
However, while the former may result in an uncomfortable period of
sleeplessness for the family, the second option could actually spell
