Article: Edinburgh Park rail shuttle link to Glasgow is derailed

A CAMPAIGN to ensure the Edinburgh-to-Glasgow shuttle train service stops at the Capital's biggest business park has hit the buffers.

Commuters working at Edinburgh Park must continue travelling via the city centre for the foreseeable future after attempts to lobby rail chiefs and the Scottish Executive were rejected.

Anyone living in Glasgow and working at the business park, where around 7000 people are currently employed, faces travelling to Haymarket station and changing trains there.

The Edinburgh Park station, which cost GBP 4.5 million to create, opened in December 2003 and attracts up to 2000 commuters a day. The city council has campaigned for the Edinburgh-to-Glasgow shuttle ...
