PAYMASTER General Dawn Primarolo is to meet with Scots MPs to
discuss fears that junior football clubs could be driven to the wall
by changes to tax rules.
New demands by the Inland Revenue are threatening dozens of
football clubs in the Lothians, whose players take home GBP 10 a week
and play to crowds of as few as 70 spectators.
And East Lothian MP Anne Moffat - one of the members Ms Primarolo
has agreed to meet - has warned that if the changes go ahead, other
sports like rugby and athletics could be affected.
The Paymaster General offered the summit in a special debate at
Westminster on the plight of Scotland's 164 junior football clubs,
who believe they face bankruptcy because the ...
