PLANS to demolish and redevelop the Mecca Bingo hall in
Fountainbridge have been accused of being a "Trojan Horse" for a new
nightclub in the area.
Rank Group, operators of the Mecca bingo hall, wants to bulldoze
the ageing building and replace it with a new modern development,
which they say would be used for "leisure".
But they have failed to say exactly what this would mean for the
new building, which would back on to the Union Canal, meaning a
casino, nightclub or cinema are all on the cards.
And this has sparked fears that they are trying to get plans for a
nightclub building approved.
