LIB Dem stand-in leader Vince Cable today warned the early
favourites in the party's leadership race that they could not be
certain of winning, as he claimed Sir Menzies Campbell had not been
forced out.
The party's Treasury spokesman refused to rule himself out of
competing for the top job as he hinted that front-runners Nick Clegg
and Chris Huhne may not face a two-way battle.
Saying the job of temporary leader had been "thrust upon him", Mr
Cable had a clear message for home affairs spokesman Mr Clegg and
environment supremo Mr Huhne, who are seen as the most likely
successors.
