WHAT'S in a name? Not much if you were one of the unlucky investors reassured by the sound of the Safe Harbour Fund, a hedge fund that lost half its value last year. Its performance was bad enough to drag Morgan Stanley's Institutional Fund-of-Funds into losses for the year.

No one could make the same claim about the nomenclature of John Koonmen's Eifuku Master Trust. "Eifuku" is, of course, Japanese for "prosperity and good fortune", but some investors could fairly believe he chose the name as a warning of what he would do to those who gave him their money.
