EDINBURGH 33 CARDIFF BLUES 16 at Meadowbank
EDINBURGH drew the short straw last night, with a November visit
to the wild and woolly west of Ireland to play their semi-final of
the Celtic Cup. Some reward for this comprehensive beating of Cardiff
at chilled Meadowbank, in a match that featured some fine tries,
three of them by props, and a display of power, pace and aggression
by the blossoming Tom Philip in the centre.
Glasgow's fine win over Celtic League champions Munster at
Hughenden on Friday night, and their home tie against Ulster in
November, opens up the real possibility - and it is not often we can
say this about any rugby competition - of an all-Scottish final.
History beckons.
