Times are lean at De Paul, but not that lean. By the time Coach
Joey Meyer finished pumping up his Blue Demons basketball team for
this date with American University, "I had 'em believing this was the
World Series," Meyer said.
The Blue Demons certainly played like it. Stanley Brundy scored
a career-high 33 points, and six De Paul players reached double
figures in a 120-85 victory at the Horizon.
The size and the magnitiude of the victory shocked even the Blue
Demons. The 120 points tied a school record set in 1965 when Joey
was just a kid and Coach Ray Meyer was the rage on the sideline. "I'm
really surprised the score is what it is," Joey Meyer said. "I mean
I'm really surprised.
