Wally Lancaster's three-point shooting streak clung to life
today, but that was about the only thing connected with Virginia Tech
that had a pulse. West Virginia took advantage of poor shooting by
the Hokies' guards and a nonexistent inside game to whip visiting
Virginia Tech, 101-52.
This was Virginia Tech's most lopsided loss since it was beaten
by West Virginia, 127-73, in the 1964-65 season. By then, Jerry West
had departed this hamlet in the hills, although West, the best player
in Mountaineers history, made his way through the snow today to be
honored at halftime.
It was Virginia Tech (4-2) that needed West's abilities today.
