With a parting slap shot, Bobby Carpenter last night blamed Coach
Bryan Murray for his troubles with the Washington Capitals.
Lambasting Murray after receiving word he had been dealt to the
New York Rangers, the 23-year-old Carpenter said Murray "played with
my mind" and "felt he could win without me-and tried to win without
me." The onetime star center said Murray had been against him from
the "first day he got here."
Carpenter said that Murray had a "communications problem" with
him. "And I'm not the only one. He has a communications problem with
a lot of players.
"Behind the bench, he panics. And if a coach panics, the players
on the ice will, too. He is a big problem."
