MARK de Vries enjoyed the derby-day debut that will live in
history, scoring four times in what became a striking masterclass by
the Dutchman.
Craig Levein has talked of his high hopes for this player, but no
one, not even the manager himself, could have expected this. What
will become known as De Vries' derby was utterly dominated by this
one player, who, adding a further measure of disbelief to the story,
was also making his full Hearts debut.
It was fascinating to observe a man visibly grow in confidence as
chance after chance flew into the net, and fascinating also to watch ...
