Article: Blairs join children in France after miscarriage

TONY and Cherie Blair arrived in south-west France yesterday to rejoin their children for a family holiday - just 36 hours after Mrs Blair suffered a miscarriage.

After a brief spell at Chequers to recover from her ordeal, the Prime Minister's wife pressed ahead with the break in the village of Le Vernet.

As she prepared to leave the UK, Mrs Blair was contacted by Gordon Brown, the Chancellor, and his wife, Sarah, whose premature baby, Jennifer, died aged ten days old in January.

Dressed in a blue jacket, white top and white trousers, Mrs Blair walked slowly down the steps of the BA flight from Gatwick to Toulouse.
