COMMERCIAL property is attracting many disillusioned stock market
investors. Now facing nearly three years of negative equity, most
have been looking beyond equities for returns.
While the trend toward investing in property rather than equities
for individual investors is not a new one, the movement toward
commercial property is relatively recent. Nonetheless, it is growing
rapidly as the buy-to-let market looks less attractive due to the
over-supply of landlords relative to tenants.
Research by leading commercial property firm DTZ showed that the
fall in equities over the past year has led institutional investors
to increase the sector's weighting in their portfolios by 5 per cent.
