George William Dorsey, 82, a retired official of the General Services
Administration who was active in civic groups, died of congestive
heart failure Jan. 10 at the Presidential Woods Health Care Center in
Adelphi. He lived in Silver Spring.
Mr. Dorsey worked for the GSA, where he was an equal employment
opportunity specialist and director of the civil rights policy staff,
from the early 1950s until retiring in 1973.
He was a native of Pittsburgh and attended the University of
Pittsburgh. A personnel specialist, he worked for the War Department
in New York during World War II, and also worked for the state of
Pennsylvania before moving here in the early 1950s.
