Article: Poorer students - but more parking spaces

LIKE many fee-paying parents, I was aghast at Edinburgh University's plans to tilt its admissions policy in favour of poorer students, but now I think I can support this radical stance.

If more well-heeled youngsters are rejected, there will be a drop in the student population in my street, where rents are high, and, subsequently, a drastic reduction in the number of navy-blue Golf GTIs clogging up the parking spaces.
