EDUCATION, education, education. It was New Labour's mantra but it
might come back to haunt the party in one of its strongholds in two
weeks' time. The political future of Andy Kerr, one of Jack
McConnell's closest allies and a finance minister in the last
Scottish Parliament, is under threat because of plans to cut the
number of secondary schools in East Kilbride from six to three.
The challenge comes from an unlikely source: Colin McCartney, a
father-of-three.
