It might just work. A drop-goal shoot-out will take place for the first time in the Rugby World Cup to settle the outcome of this weekend's quarter-finals, should the teams be tied after extra-time.

Initially, there will be two ten-minute periods of extra-time if the teams are level at the end of 80 minutes, and, if still tied, there will then by a third 'golden point' period of a maximum of ten minutes with the first team to get points on the board, from a try, penalty or drop-goal, winning.
