Article: Highland tourism businesses launch private lobby group

A NEW private-sector lobbying group was launched yesterday, with the aim of giving tourism businesses in the Highlands and Islands a stronger voice.

The initiative was unveiled in Aberdeen at VisitScotland Expo, the tourist industry's main trade show, which was opened by Frank McAveety, the minister for tourism, culture and sport.

The Highlands and Islands Tourism Forum (HIT) is aimed at raising the profile of tourism issues at a regional, national and international level.
