THE Borders Reivers displayed all their traditional traits of raiding at Netherdale yesterday, but they came away with nothing but two major injury worries due to a distinct failure to finish what they had started.

The loss of Gregor Townsend after just 11 minutes had a major bearing on the game as, up to that point, the Borders had looked a composed, enterprising outfit. Townsend was kicking the hosts well into enemy territory and the momentum built up to a good try, created by the former Scotland fly-half and finished by Kelly Brown, one of the new generation of Scottish talent.
