Over the past four years, the rivalry between Loudoun County and
Handley high schools has become the high point of the Northwestern
District girls volleyball season.
For the second year in a row, Loudoun County and Handley finished
with identical 5-1 records in the District standings, forcing a
one-match playoff to determine the outright regular season champion.
And for the second straight season, Loudoun County prevailed in the
playoff, this time by a score of 15-13, 10-15, 15-8. The win marked
the first time that the Raiders had defeated the Judges at Handley.
