EDINBURGH'S unbeaten home run came to a disappointing end at
Murrayfield last night when Cardiff edged a battle of two under-
strength teams.
A number of young and fringe players on both sides will have
benefited from their exposure, but the insipid fashion in which
Edinburgh allowed the game to drift from them in the final stages
will serve as a frustrating lesson for the home side.
There was an inevitability about the rustiness of the play, with
Edinburgh missing eight first-choice players and Cardiff six
internationals and suspended prop Gary Powell. Where the newness of
