captivate a crowd, once asked Danny Kaye, "What is the secret of your
control over an audience?" Part of it, of course, was his riveting
presence: the rubber face, the brilliant blue eyes, the mile-a-minute
tongue and the dancing feet. But to countless millions of all ages
who howled, cried and sang along with Danny Kaye for more than 40
