TONY Blair has confessed that he yearns to be liked by voters and
is hurt by electorate's increasing hostility towards him.
In an interview with the entertainer Stephen Fry, the Prime
Minister lamented how the public did not see the hard work carried
out behind the scenes on issues such as "peace-making". Raising
suspicions that he is starting to define what he hopes will be his
legacy, Mr Blair also used the broadcast to insist that Britain is a
better, more relaxed and tolerant society than when he took power in
1997.
