LEADERS of the global private equity sector gather today at the
giant Messe trade fair complex in Frankfurt for their annual Super
Return Conference, as another handful of potential mega-deals emerged
over the weekend, keeping the spotlight firmly on the industry.
Privately owned fashion retailer New Look may now be sold for GBP
2 billion, after private equity firms Apax and Permira received at
least three bid approaches for the firm, according to one report,
while another suggested the chain could be floated. The two private
equity groups have been major shareholders in the company since it
was taken private for GBP 700 million three years ago.
