EDINBURGH produced a spirited second-half display last night to emerge from a fairly uninspiring encounter back in joint third spot in the league and with their title aspirations given fresh hope.

Lynn Howells' side had lost five of their last six competitive matches, including three in the league, and were in desperate need of a pick-me-up.
