In today's personal computer world, software lags behind
hardware. That's such a commonplace observation right now that it
has become a bromide, but it's also the truth.
There will be a flood of innovative new PC hardware on the market
this year, but barely a trickle of software that can use the full
power of these mighty new machines.
Many of us will be buying the new MS-DOS PCs built around Intel's
80386 microprocessor. The Compaq 386 machines and about a dozen more
from other makers are selling fast already; the pace will certainly
increase when IBM finally introduces its 80386 computers, an event
