Irish pol watchers will be looking to see who's wearing the green
and who's seeing red today at Irish Ambassador Padraic N. MacKernan's
reception for President Reagan. Leading candidates for a bit of
each: Ireland's new Prime Minister Charles Haughey and the man he
defeated in last week's hotly contested national elections, Garret
FitzGerald.
FitzGerald had planned to come to Washington before he lost the
election; Haughey decided to come after he won. One observer
yesterday described the relationship between them as "much more than
strained."
Perhaps they can make up at the party.
Another Irish happening of note this week-a cultural weekend
planned by the Committee for a New Ireland ...
