Switzerland is the most comfortable nation to live in, according
to a new index that estimates the level of human suffering.
The next most comfortable, in order, are West Germany,
Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the United States.
Mozambique, Angola, Afghanistan, Chad and Mali ranked highest
(worst) on the International Index of Human Suffering.
The index, which ranks 130 nations on the basis of health,
economics, demography and governance, was compiled by the Population
Crisis Committee, a Washington-based private, nonprofit organization
involved in family planning and population issues.
