You can't judge workaholics by the hours they work.
"I've had patients who are workaholics, and I've had patients who
work very hard," said Dr. David Goldstein, a psychiatrist and
clinical associate professor at Georgetown University Medical Center.
"There's a big difference between the two."
The main difference is compulsion.
Workaholics are addicted to work. Their devotion to work is
compulsive, irrational-and usually unproductive and unhealthy.
"They need to be constantly on the edge, constantly on the verge
of crisis, constantly overwhelmed by their work," said Robert Rosen,
