It's come down to Iowa State and defending champion Iowa for the
1987 NCAA wrestling championship. The intrastate rivals are one-two,
respectively, in the standings as they move into today's final round
at the University of Maryland's Cole Field House.
Iowa State, on the strength of five finalists, leads the
Hawkeyes, 109-94.75. The consolation semifinals will begin today at
10 a.m. and the championship finals are scheduled for 3 p.m.
Penn State and Oklahoma State, who for three sessions challenged
for the lead, fell back; each has only one wrestler in the
championship round. Penn State has 72.25 points and Oklahoma State
65.50.
