When Patricia Lewis returned to school from spring break last
week, she said her friends started kidding her about where she would
be going to dental school in the fall.
"So I called up the admissions office at Georgetown University to
ask what's going on," said Lewis, who had been accepted by the school
in December. "They said the dental school was closing, and we'll
return your deposit. I hung up the phone."
Lewis, a senior at George Washington University, is one of 120
students who had paid $500 deposits to Georgetown to reserve places
in its first-year dental school class in the fall. The word that
there will be no first-year class, and that the school will close in
three years, came ...
