WASHINGTON, March 7 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Humane Society of the
United States (HSUS), the nation's largest animal protection
organization, is urging the U.S. Congress to quickly approve
legislation introduced by Representative Sam Farr (D-CA) and Senator
Joseph Biden (D-DE) to combat the proliferation of private "canned
hunting" operations throughout the United States. This legislation
and the issue of canned hunting is the subject of an article in this
week's Time Magazine.
The legislation -- known as the Captive Exotic Animal Protection
Act -- would make it illegal to knowingly transfer, transport, or
possess in interstate or foreign commerce a confined exotic mammal
