John L. Kirkwood, president and CEO, American Lung Association:
"The American Lung Association strongly denounces Lorillard
Tobacco Company for threatening litigation to end the American Legacy
Foundation's effective 'truth' advertising campaign, which is aimed
at preventing our nation's children from smoking.
"Lorillard makes Newport cigarettes, which are very popular among
youth and is the preferred brand among African-American teens.
"Lorillard's action clearly confirms the success of the 'truth'
