Article: What the Bottle Bill Would Do

Rudolph Pyatt's column on the bottle bill initiative {"Corking the Bottle Bill," Business, April 3} once again mindlessly repeats the assertions of the business interests opposed to the campaign. Just as auto manufacturers seek to escape the blame for auto-safety problems, so Mr. Pyatt and the bottling industry wish to deny that they create and promote litter when they turn out an endless stream of aluminum, glass and plastic containers, nearly all of which could be recycled.
