"Nothing says more about who we are as a nation than how we treat
those who served in uniform," Kerry said. "At the end of World War
II, the GI Bill opened the doors of college to millions of veterans
who came home to build the largest middle class in history. But
today, our veterans come home to VA waiting lists, closed hospitals
and rising health care costs that are making it harder and harder to
pay the bills. Premiums are up $2,700 in the last three years, and
folks are often spending double for their prescriptions."
