It has taken some time, but George Manos and the National
Gallery's acoustics have become allies. Manos led a festive Easter
celebration Sunday night in the East Garden Court that culminated in
a glowing performance of Vaughan Williams' "Five Mystical Songs."
Baritone Robert Kennedy handled the broad lines with the romantic
gentleness that so much 20th-century English music calls for, and the
sounds of the small gallery orchestra and 24-voice Camerata of the
