WASHINGTON, March 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a statement
by Matthew L. Myers, president, Campaign for Tobacco- Free Kids:
"Philip Morris, the world's largest multinational tobacco company,
never misses an opportunity to claim that it is a changed,
responsible business. But Philip Morris' actions tell a different
story and show that the company continues to put profits ahead of
public health. In the latest example, Philip Morris International is
bidding to buy one of Indonesia's largest cigarette makers. This
would allow Philip Morris to exploit a market with few public health
measures in place to curb tobacco use and put Philip Morris in the
