Law enforcement officers from Vancouver and Tacoma who died in the
line of duty during 2004 will be honored at a Washington, DC
Candlelight Vigil and ceremony beginning at 8 p.m. on May 13. The
ceremony will take place at the National Law Enforcement Officers
Memorial, which commemorates the service and sacrifices of the more
than 17,000 officers who have been killed while protecting public
safety since the earliest known death in 1792.
"These incidents show how a typical day for a law enforcement
officer can turn tragic in an instant, and we want to assure the
families and friends of both officers that their service and
