Last night Chris Cagney's father died because he was drunk. He
fell down, hit his head on the corner of a cocktail table in his own
living room and bled to death. Chris Cagney responded to her
father's death by getting drunk, too.
Next Monday night, police Sgt. Cagney, portrayed by Sharon
Gless, will go from bad to worse, ending this television season's
"Cagney & Lacey" with a powerful testament to the problems of female
alcoholics.
It has been only about a decade since researchers determined
that the reaction of women to alcohol was vastly different from that
of men. They now know that women are more sensitive to alcohol,
become addicted more easily, develop alcohol-related ...
