Article: Longtime President & CEO of Chicago Urban League to Retire; National Search is on to Replace Compton After Announcement

CHICAGO, Nov. 3 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Citing a desire to travel and perhaps "do some writing," James W. Compton, president & CEO, and a member of the board of directors of the Chicago Urban League since 1978, has announced his retirement effective in mid- 2006.

"I just thought it was time to step down after almost 33 years, having first served as executive director from 1972 to 1978. I leave the organization in capable hands, including a stellar board of directors, to continue moving the organization forward," says Compton. Before heading the Chicago Urban League he was executive director of the Broome County Urban League in Binghampton, New York.
