WASHINGTON, Feb. 8 /U.S. Newswire/ -- As President Bush heads to New Hampshire today, the Associated Press is reporting that the President's proposed budget would eliminate the Social Security death benefit provided to widows and widowers who were living with the deceased at the time of his or her death. The president's budget -- released earlier this week -- has been panned by Democrats and Republicans alike for putting important domestic programs like Social Security on the chopping block. According to the Social Security Administration, 17,566 New Hampshire children and 16,980 widows and widowers received monthly Social Security survivor benefits in 2004.
