ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Jan. 25 /U.S. Newswire/ -- As voters and
lawmakers grapple with the issue of how best to manage federal public
lands in Dona Ana County, New Mexico, a new poll shows strong and
broad support for significant wilderness protection of these lands.
In a poll conducted the week of January 15 in Dona Ana County by
Public Opinion Strategies, a majority of Dona Ana County voters (55
percent) support a proposal by conservationists to permanently
protect 330,000 acres as wilderness across the county's public lands
and 100,000 acres as a National Conservation Area (NCA) in the Organ
Mountains.
